When you create an account, MemoryU stores your email address and a password hash. At sign-up we also ask for a display name, which you choose and can be anything you like. If you set a profile picture, the image you select is uploaded and stored on our servers.
While you use the app, we store your study progress: XP, level, streak, the dates you've studied, which cards you've answered correctly, any cards you've added to your Mistake Vault, and any custom decks you create.
If you sign in with Apple instead, we receive the identifier Apple provides. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email" option, we only ever see Apple's private relay address, not your real email.
If you continue as a guest, none of this leaves your device — your progress lives only in this app's local storage and is lost when the app is uninstalled.
Account data is stored in Supabase, hosted in the United States. Connections are encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. Row-level security policies ensure that no other user (including us) can read your study progress without your authentication.
Profile pictures are stored in a storage bucket that is readable by anyone who has the image's link, so please don't use a photo you consider private.
To find and fix bugs, MemoryU uses Sentry, a third-party error-monitoring service. When the app hits an unexpected error, Sentry receives a diagnostic report that includes your account's user ID and email address so we can identify and resolve the problem. Sentry does not receive your study content, and we never use it for advertising. If you'd like your crash data removed, contact us using the address below.
If you enable daily study reminders, the notification is scheduled locally on your device. We do not send push notifications from a server — your device handles the reminder itself, and we never see when it fires.
MemoryU is free, and any support is a voluntary gift — it doesn't unlock features and isn't a purchase. If you choose to contribute, the payment is handled entirely by Stripe, our payment processor, in your device's web browser. Stripe collects the details you enter there (such as your name, email, and card information) under Stripe's own privacy policy. MemoryU never sees or stores your card number, and we don't keep a record of your payment beyond the confirmation Stripe shows us.
You can delete your account from Settings → Delete Account. This removes your email, your study progress, and any other personal data from our servers immediately. There is no recovery — once deleted, the data is gone.
MemoryU does not target children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
If we change how we collect or use data, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date. Significant changes will also be announced in the app.
